I’m doing a TEDx Talk!

I am so very excited, honoured, nervous, exhilarated and humbled to be confirmed as an official TEDx speaker. On November 30th this year I will take to the stage of TEDxOmagh and become part of the TED talk family. So what will I talk about? Well that's still in planning. I talk a lot - on stages I mean. Mostly about social media, digital marketing, media and communications but often about my own tales for motivational events. The TEDx talk is very different however and takes much thought and consideration. In fact the application process was very thorough and it took me quite a while to complete the form.   My approach will certainly be to tell a tale that engages, compels...

9 Days in Corrib Spa

My Emergency and Life Accident “Have you got food poisoning?” I shouted from the top of the stairs as Sophie stooped down to meet her six inch heels, breathing a sigh of relief at the thought of escaping their grip! It was 2am. I was feeling unwell, very unwell. Gut-wrenching, abdominal pain, nausea and a migraine that would knock over a race-horse. Since then I have upskilled, become a passionate practitioner and a strategist for public and private sector clients. After 14 years I realise I've always been storytelling but just in different...

It's now on a floppy disc in my attic somewhere so I doubt it will ever see the light of day, never mind words in a published title. But the seed remains in my storybox (the bookshelf that is my mind). Then 18 months ago I pursued my interest in a niche area - policing and social media - and began to research and write on the subject. The...
